If you are feeling disappointed, maybe even envious, because of a “missed” opportunity, it is a good time to apply mindfulness. Here are three mindfulness tips that can help you feel like you are in the right place at the right time.

1. Name your emotion. Saying quietly to yourself,” I am disappointed,” I am jealous,” or “I am frustrated,” can help you register in your mind and your body that these feelings are temporary.
2. Consider that conditions may not be right. Noting that now may not be the best time for the change you desire, and trusting in timing, can stop you from blaming yourself, and will help you start to formulate plan B with self-compassion.
3. Clear your mind. When things don’t go the way we plan, we tend to obsess about “what went wrong.” Take five minutes to focus on the breath, gently bringing your thoughts back if they stray. Remember that your mindfulness practice will boost your ability to gain insight into any situation, promoting a sense of calm and well-being, even in imperfect times.
